Stanley J. Schuring, CPA/PFS, CFP*

Stanley Schuring, CPA, CFP®, is co-founder of S & U. Stan is active in the firm’s financial and tax services, estate planning, management consulting services, and investment services.

He is a graduate of Central College in Pella with a bachelor of arts degree in business administration and also received his Certified Financial Planning (CFP) designation from the College for Financial Planning, one of the nation’s most respected financial planning institutions.

Stan is a licensed CPA in Iowa and Missouri and holds the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ PFS designation for personal financial planning. Stan has been a Certified Financial Planner for the past 18 years and is also an Investment Advisor Representative, holds a life, health and accident insurance license, and is a Registered Representative with a Series 6 and 63. In addition, Stan holds the designation of Certified Specialist in Estate Planning (CSEP) with the National Institute of Excellence and is an Enrolled Agent to practice before the Internal Revenue Service.

He enjoys hunting, fishing, and family activities with children and grandchildren. Stan often can be found at local high school and college sporting events of all kinds. He is currently a board member of the Pella Thrift Shop and has served as President of the Pella Chamber of Commerce and as a board member of the Pella Convention & Visitors Board.

Jerry L. Uitermarkt, CPA

Jerry L. Uitermarkt, CPA is co-founder of S & U. Jerry is active in the firm’s financial and tax services and estate planning. In addition, he provides management consulting services and coordinates the firm’s peer review.

He is a graduate of Mankato State College in Minnesota with a bachelor of science degree in accounting.

Jerry is a licensed CPA in Iowa and Missouri and holds the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ CEA designation for tax planning for closely held businesses.

He is an active board member of Trinity Christian College, located in Palos Heights, Illinois. He enjoys fishing, hunting, and woodworking.

Wendy L. Sims, CPA

Wendy Sims, CPA, is involved in the firm’s individual and business taxes, management consulting, investment services, write-up, and payroll services.

Wendy is a graduate of Central College in Pella, Iowa, from which she holds a bachelor of arts degree in accounting.

Active in various church, school, and community groups and organizations, Wendy also enjoys spending time in her family’s horse business and helping at horse shows. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends, working on puzzles, reading, and attending her children’s activities.

Michael Ver Meer, CPA*

Michael, a certified public accountant, is active in the firm’s financial and tax services, estate planning, management consulting services, and investment and insurance services.

Michael is a graduate of Dordt College with a bachelors of arts degree in accounting and business management. He is a member of the Iowa Society of CPAs and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Michael also is a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning (CSEP), a certification he received from the National Institute for Excellence in Professional Education. In addition, he is a registered representative holding securities licenses series 6 and 63 and also holds an Iowa Insurance Producer’s License with qualifications in Accident & Health, Life, and Variable Contracts.

Michael is an active board member of Pella Community Ambulance Service.  He enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, various sports, photography, and aviation.

Wendy Albers, CPA

Wendy Albers, CPA, joined the firm in 2008. Wendy is involved with individual and corporate income tax and financial statement preparation. She also provides our clients with support for QuickBooks and Peachtree accounting software.

Wendy is a graduate of Northwestern College in Orange City with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration and is currently pursuing a MBA in accounting at Bellevue University.

Wendy is active with her church’s praise team and enjoys movies, music, gardening, and spending time with friends.

Heidi S. Ernst, CPA

Heidi Ernst, CPA, joined the firm’s professional staff in 1998. She is involved with business entity taxes and financial statement preparation. Heidi is a licensed CPA in both Iowa and Nebraska.

Heidi graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and business administration.

Heidi is actively involved in her church and children’s activities. She enjoys reading, scrap booking and her daughters’ activities.

Rhonda Jensen, CPA

Rhonda Jensen joined S & U in 2005. She is involved with individual, corporate, and partnership income tax and financial statement preparation. She also provides our clients with support for QuickBooks and Peachtree accounting software.

She is a graduate of Iowa State University, with degrees from the College of Business in accounting and from the College of Agriculture in agricultural business and international agriculture.

Rhonda’s professional affiliations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Iowa Society of Certified Public Accountants. She is involved with her local church and enjoys cooking, gardening, traveling, and interior design.

Chad Klyn

Chad Klyn joined the firm’s professional staff in 2008. Chad is involved with individual and corporate income tax and financial statement preparation.

Chad is a graduate of Northwestern College in Orange City with a degree in accounting and business administration—finance.

Chad is a committee member for the Dollars for Scholars program. He is active in his local church youth group and activities. Chad also enjoys playing slow pitch softball, playing games, puzzles, and watching the Chicago Cubs.

Kristy D. Van Maanen, CPA

Kristy D. Van Maanen, CPA, joined S & U’s professional staff in 1995. She is involved with individual income tax, business entity taxes, exempt organization taxes, and financial statement preparation.

Kristy graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls with a degree in accounting.

Kristy enjoys baking, reading, camping and spending time with her family. She is also active in her church and community organizations.

Dean L. Vander Wilt, CPA, APA

Dean Vander Wilt, CPA, APA, joined the firm in 1993. He is involved with pension administration and pension plan set-up including plan documents. In addition, he is involved with corporate, individual, and partnership income tax preparation.

Dean graduated from Dordt College in Sioux Center with a degree in management information systems and accounting. He has been certified as an Accredited Pension Administrator (APA) by the National Institute of Pension Administrators.

Dean is actively involved with his church activities and his children’s school activities. Dean enjoys golf, working in his garden, working with and restoring antique tractors, going on tractor rides, and playing with his kids.

Valerie Beerends

Valerie Beerends joined S & U in 1999. Valerie is involved with write-up, payroll, and sales tax returns.

Valerie graduated from Des Moines Area Community College with a degree in accounting and bookkeeping.

Valerie enjoys sewing, crafts and outdoor activities.

Brenda Cordes

Brenda Cordes joined the firm in 2004. She is involved with write-up, payroll, payroll tax returns, sales tax returns, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.

Brenda received an associate’s degree in accounting and business administration from AIB College of Business.

Brenda enjoys walking and biking in her spare time.

Linda De Ronde

Linda De Ronde joined the firm in 2000. Linda is involved in payroll and general bookkeeping.

Linda loves being outdoors, boating, skiing, and taking family vacations. She is a volunteer for her church’s coffee break and other activities.

Ron Vande Voort

Ron Vande Voort joined S & U in 2001. Ron is involved with bookkeeping services and special assistance to some of our elderly clients.

Ron attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls for three years.

He enjoys reading, his grandkids’ sporting activities, and also secretly collects Precious Moments. Ron is an active church member and regularly attends Bible study.

Renae Vos

Renae Vos joined S & U in 1999. Renae is involved with running payroll and various other returns and also is involved with payroll processing.

Renae graduated from AIB College of Business with an accounting assistant degree.

Renae is involved in her local Bible School program as well as the Kids of the Kingdom program at her church. She enjoys scrap booking and playing with her kids.

Heather Whelan

Heather Whelan joined S & U in 2007. Heather is involved with payroll, payroll tax returns, sales tax returns, accounts payable, and write-up.

Heather received a degree in accounting and business leadership from AIB College of Business.

She enjoys watching her brother race, being with family, and going on walks with her dogs.

Linda Anderson

Linda Anderson joined the firm late in 2009. She is the administrative assistant to Jerry Uitermarkt and Wendy Sims, and is also the time and billing clerk for the firm.

A graduate of Hamilton Business College, Linda enjoys photography, spending time outdoors, and doing family activities.

Sonya Boot

Sonya Boot joined S & U in 2005. She is the administrative assistant to Stan Schuring and is the financial services assistant. Sonya is a Certified Notary Public.

Sonya graduated from AIB College of Business with a degree in business administration—sales and marketing.

Sonya enjoys spending time with her family and friends, helping her husband on the farm, and anything outdoors.

Paula Klyn

Paula Klyn joined the firm in 2006. She is the receptionist in the East building and the pension administrative assistant.

Paula enjoys golf, card making, scrap booking, and spending time with her grandchildren. She is also actively involved in her church.

Mary Roose

Mary Roose joined S & U in 1999. Mary is involved in write-up and administrative duties during tax season.

Mary graduated from Indian Hills Community College in Ottumwa , Iowa, as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Mary is involved with her church and Bible study groups. Mary enjoys helping her husband on the grain and livestock farm, which includes some crop acres that are certified organic. She enjoys spending time with her three sons, their wives, and ten grandchildren. Mary also helps her son with a family-run catering business and enjoys spending time canning and freezing items from her garden.

Kathy Van Wyk

Kathy Van Wyk joined the firm in 2005. She is the receptionist for the West building. Kathy is also a Certified Notary Public.

Kathy enjoys cooking, baking, walking, and trying to keep up with her four children. Kathy is also an active church member.
